MOUNTAIN BIKING
THE WHITE RIM TRAIL
Welcome to the legendary White Rim Trail, a mountain biking experience
you will never forget. This "Canyon Country Classic" ride has it all:
grand descents, miles of cruising, technical sections, demanding climbs,
exquisite views and access to great hikes.
The White Rim Trail is located in the Island in the Sky District of Canyonlands
National Park. Bordered by the Green and Colorado Rivers, the "island"
is really a high plateau with a 360º view that stretches out for
over 50 miles in all directions. Our ride begins on top of this plateau
at 6,000' and descends over a course of well-maintained switchbacks to
the White Rim Trail a thousand feet below. From here, this playful route
follows the contours of immense canyons and provides “postcard views”
in all directions.
Our route is an 85-mile jeep road that crosses packed and loose sand,
slickrock and some loose-rock sections. There are a few places that require
some climbing skill (which can be learned on the trip) or you can simply
dismount and walk. A four-wheel drive support vehicle will follow the
riders to carry all group and personal gear, first aid supplies, water,
snacks and any weary riders needing a lift.
Canyonlands National Park is a spectacular area! Visitor use is regulated
and all of our camps are reserved to insure a quality backcountry experience.
You won't be seeing hordes of people, just miles of pristine desert landscape.
The week is yours for riding, hiking slot canyons, viewing ancient ruins,
taking a dip in the river or just kicking back and enjoying the view.
You won't be disappointed!

MOUNTAIN
BIKING THE MAZE
Mountain biking the Maze will treat your senses and challenge your riding
skills with miles of rugged jeep tracks, technical descents, demanding
climbs and all-out cruising. You will be entering one of the most secluded
and inaccessible regions in the country - a wild land of winding sandstone
canyons, monolithic spires and expansive mesas. This is a "Must Do Ride"
for all desert riders!
A rich history can be found in the Maze. The Anasazi or the "Ancient Ones"
wandered these canyons, left their cryptic artwork and dwellings and disappeared
seven centuries ago. Spanish explorers were the first Anglos to see this
amazing country in the 1700's, and since then, long forgotten cowhands
and miners have worked this land, barely eking out a living. They all
left something in their passing and contributed to the richness that is
only found in special places like the Maze.
Our ride begins in a remote piņon and juniper forest near the Hans Flat
Ranger station where we mount our bikes and take off on a rugged jeep
road. Stunning panoramic views reach out in all directions along the Big
Ridge, a narrow extruded mesa with dramatic canyons dropping away on either
side.
The days are a fun-filled collage of great cruising, outrageous scenery
and technical riding sections that are guaranteed to please.
This is our most demanding ride in Canyonlands and we recommend it for
intermediate through advanced riders. It is loaded with breathtaking views
and plenty of challenging mountain biking. We limit our Maze trips to
7 guests to further enhance the quality and intimacy of your visit.
