Day 1- Arrival in Porto

After your arrival, our guide will pick you up and transfer you to your first hotel accommodation, where you’ll be introduced to the journey ahead. During a brief briefing, our guide will provide an overview of the exciting days to come, detailing the tour itinerary and key highlights. Besides that, the day it’s yours to explore Porto! Porto is a charming city, easy to fall in love with, that has something mystical and difficult to describe. For your eyes only! Take the rest of the day off to experience the city, taste the food, reach the sightseeing spots, and interact with the lovely people. Your journey begins here!

Day 2 – Hike from Pinhão to Casal de Loivos Hike: 9 km, Elevation gain: 400 meters

The day begins with an incredible, unforgettable train journey to Pinhão, a quintessential experience that captures the essence of the Douro Valley. As one of the highlights of the day, this scenic trip promises breathtaking views and a true immersion into the valley’s beauty—but the adventure doesn’t end here. Upon arrival, you’ll set off on your first hike, ascending along the picturesque Pinhão River. The valley’s monumental slopes, adorned with vineyards, envelop you in the authentic wine culture that permeates the region. Your journey concludes in Casal de Loivos, where a stunning viewpoint awaits, offering one of the most remarkable vistas in the Douro Valley. This is your first night in the Douro, so take time to relax, savor the surroundings, and enjoy the full splendor of the region. And, of course, why not indulge in a glass of Port wine? It’s the perfect way to embrace the essence of the Douro experience. Dinner is included tonight.

Day 3 – Hike from Casal de Loivos to Alijó Hike: 16 km, Elevation gain: 400 meters

Museums and wine estates will enrich your day.

Today, you’ll journey deeper into the Douro Valley, immersing yourself in its breathtaking landscapes and rich cultural heritage. As you wind through terraced vineyards and hear stories of the region’s proud traditions, you’ll encounter an olive oil museum where traditional production methods come to life. You’ll also have the opportunity to explore the charming village of Favaios, known for its unique wines and traditional wood oven-baked bread—a true taste of the Douro. As you traverse the valley, you’ll pass several of the region’s renowned wine estates, or quintas, where you can indulge in wine tastings, should you choose to reserve one. As the day comes to a close, you’ll arrive in Alijó, where the experience can only get better as you delight in the rich local cuisine, truly enjoying the culinary treasures of the heart of the Douro.

Day 4 – Hike from Alijó to Vilarinho de São Romão Hike: 17 km, Elevation gain: 600 meters

Discover the lovely hometown of Ferdinand Magellan.

Prepare to be captivated by the breathtaking landscapes of the Douro Valley as your journey unfolds. Venture deeper into the region’s charm, wandering through terraced olive groves and vineyards that showcase the rugged beauty of rural life. After leaving the picturesque village of Favaios behind, you’ll cross Quinta da Pedra Alta, an award-winning estate known for its exceptional wines. Here, you can enhance your experience by reserving a delightful wine-tasting session, allowing you to savor the finest local offerings. Continue to Sabrosa, one of the most iconic towns in the Douro Valley, where you’ll uncover the fascinating legacy of Ferdinand Magellan, the great fifteenth-century navigator who first circumnavigated the globe, proving that the Earth is round. As your day concludes in Vilarinho de São Romão, seize the opportunity to indulge in the rich gastronomy and exquisite wines that the Douro region is famous for, ensuring you create unforgettable memories that will last a lifetime. Day 5 – Hike from Vilarinho de São Romão to Pinhão Hike: 10 km, Elevation gain: 200 meters

As you embark on another day of hiking, prepare for an unforgettable experience that captures the stunning beauty of the Douro Valley. Your journey will take you downhill toward the river, passing through charming villages such as Provesende, one of Portugal’s seven Wine Villages. As you approach Pinhão, enjoy the captivating contrasts of the sky, vineyards, and river, blending into a breathtaking panorama that feels like a living painting. Conclude your day by indulging in a glass of exquisite Douro wine while soaking in the majestic landscape of the valley. This delightful experience will not only enhance your appreciation of the region’s rich culture and heritage but will also set the perfect tone for the remainder of your journey, allowing you to carry the enchanting spirit of the Douro with you long after your travels.

Day 6 – Hike Peso da Régua Loop Hike: 8 km, Elevation gain: 100 meters

After a delightful breakfast, you will be transported to Peso da Régua, the heart of the Porto wine-growing region, for a memorable final hiking day. You’ll follow the UNESCO World Heritage riverside trails, where breathtaking terraced vineyards await and the rich traditions of the region come alive. As you explore the stunning Varosa River valley, you’ll be surrounded by aromatic plants, vibrant flowers, and ancient olive trees, creating a unique sensory experience. Along the way, you’ll pass by Quinta da Pacheca, a prestigious estate with a storied history dating back to the 16th century, where you can reserve a wine tasting that guarantees a delightful finale to your day. Be sure to savor these last moments in the enchanting Douro Valley! Dinner is included tonight.

Day 7 – Departure – That’s it! This incredible journey comes to an end…
